Support Highlighting Across Page Boundary (similar to Moon+ Reader)
Greetings! I first suggested this idea to Dwayne back in early 2020 in an email conversation, but wanted to surface this again as the absence of this functionality is a significant reason I have not yet switched over to BookFusion (though I continue to be a subscriber, as I want to support the development of this platform and software).
I checked again recently (a month or so ago) and it does not appear that I can make a Highlight in BookFusion that starts with text on the bottom of the current page and continues on to text on the next page. This is an extremely useful feature for me (ie, my Highlights often cross the page boundary).
The Moon+ Reader Approach to Highlights Across Pages
The way Moon+ Reader Pro (which is my daily reader app currently) handles this is that if you drag your "Highlighter" to the bottom (or top) of the page boundary the page will scroll down (or up) further in that direction (instead of the usual horizontal page turn) until you stop dragging in that direction. This works well and is pretty intuitive. The one thing I don't like is that it then changes where content is on the page (because it basically temporarily switches to scrolling mode instead of horizontal mode). I'm a fan of having some consistency of where the text is on the page (which albeit is imperfect, especially as I switch between devices or upgrade devices over time) so as to mimic the hard-copy experience. So in Moon+ Reader I found that if I make a Highlight that crosses the page boundary (ie, so the page ends up scrolling down so that I can complete my Highlight) I can swipe back a page or two and those prior pages are still positioned like they originally were, and then when I swipe forward to the current page it's position is restored (and my Highlight is correctly traversing the page boundary).
At the minimum, I really need something akin to the above in BookFusion for me to consider making it my daily reading app.
An Improvement on the Moon+ Reader Approach
However, here is an alternative of the above that improves upon the Moon+ Reader approach: Just like with Moon the user would be able to Highlight to the bottom (top) of the page, and then the page would scroll further to allow them to Highlight onto the next page (whichever direction they're moving). But once they finish dragging and then tap on Highlight (or any other options listed, eg, Copy), the screen would scroll back to it's original position, thus preserving the layout/flow. I should note, however, that either through automatic device detection (of eink screens) and/or through a user setting it should be possible to have the "scroll" be a simple jump rather than animated, for the sake of eink devices for which a return-to-position scrolling animation is needless and a waste of eink screen refreshes.
Thank you for considering my request amongst the many worthwhile requests!
:)
